By the time this poor horse was found, all by herself on a mountainside with snow up to her belly, she looked as though she had given up any hope of making it off of the mountain alive. But in that freezing, desolate place, the warmth of human kindness and mercy won the day.
To celebrate Rafael Pease’s 21st birthday, he and a friend had prepared to spend the entire day snowboarding in the Chilean Andes, however they soon found themselves in a situation where a life needed saving. While they were shredding through the fresh blanket of white powder, Pease noticed what he first believed was a rock some distance away. As he came nearer, however, he understood that it was actually an animal that needed help desperately.
They began to dig her out with their snow shovels, and the two of them were able to free the exhausted horse from her icy trap. After giving her some food, Pease and his friend began to slowly lead the horse down the mountain where she was returned to her owner, who then told them that she had been lost for four long days.
