Getting a pet is a commitment. But the rewards you get are without equal! Sadly, many animals are not loved or well taken care of. It is staggering how many private rescue groups that exist. There is probably a rescue group for every known breed of dog. Then you have rescue groups devoted to just cats.
How about rescue groups for birds and reptiles – yep, we have some of those around too. And don’t forget the sanctuaries for wild animals – that is a whole other thing. Having so many rescue groups is a blessing – don’t get me wrong. But, it is also a sad statement about the level of compassion some people have for animals.
The Rainbow Rehoming Center is located in Londonderry, Northern Ireland. Their mission is a simple one – rescue dogs and cats and find them forever homes. So far in 2016, they have rehomed more than 160 dogs, puppies, kittens, and cats.
When a little girl heard a dog crying, she went to investigate. She ran and got her dad to come help. Someone had put an elderly boxer in a hole.
To make matters worse, the hole had been covered with wooden planks and bricks – there was no way out.
After getting the dog out of the hole, they kept the dog overnight and called Rainbow Rehoming Center the next day.
Bella, the dog, was blind and starving. She also had an infection in her uterus caused by over breeding.
