A story of hope has emerged from the devastation in Italy. Central Italy experienced a 6.2 magnitude earthquake on August 24, 2016. Nearly 300 people were killed. One town, Amatrice, near the epicenter of the quake, was completely destroyed.
According to Wikipedia, only a few buildings on the outskirts of the town remain standing. CNN.com reports that that town’s clock tower was not destroyed. One miracle cat survived after being trapped for five days. Gigia, the lucky kitty, was pulled out from underneath the rubble by firefighters.
Gigia’s human mom, Daniela was distraught. Her house had been destroyed, and Gigia was missing. Daniela was desperate to find her and pleaded with firefighters nearby to help her.
Using bulldozers, they moved some of the rubble and suddenly saw something moving! It was Gigia!
She was dehydrated, but otherwise in good condition despite being trapped for days.
