PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is offering a $5,000 reward for any information that leads the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for leaving a dog in a crate in North Austin. The one-year-old puppy, named Sophie, was found starving last Wednesday in a wire crate at an intersection, according to CBS Austin.
When she was found, veterinarians were not sure if the Boxer female would live; she was hypothermic and emaciated. Happily, within one week, she gained four pounds and is soaking in the love and attention she is getting.
Austin Animal Center posted an update on their Facebook page that delighted all their followers. They reported that Sophie is getting stronger every day, but she still needs a lot of time to gain weight and heal.
Remember Sophie? She is the sweet pup we took in after she was found in a kennel on the side of the road starving and on the brink of death. Sophie was incredibly thin, anemic and we didn’t know if she would survive.
And will you look at Sophie now! She is up and walking around! She’s also gained four pounds already since the first day she was found 😍She still needs a lot of time to gain weight and heal so she needs all the loving vibes she can get! It will be a while before she can be adopted but in the mean time, give Sophie some encouraging words so her foster mom can read them to her before bed tonight 😀
